The announcement came amidst #EndSARS protests against police brutality, extortion, and extrajudicial killings in the country, creating a panic that the operation might have been launched to stop the protest.

Army said Crocodile Smile VI has nothing to do with the ongoing protest and the NA has never been involved in the ongoing protest in any form whatsoever.

And barely 3 days later, the Army confirm the arrest of one of its officers.

“Lance Corporal Harrison Friday, the hooded soldier hiding behind the mask to commit cyber crimes has been apprehended in the ongoing cyber operations in support of Crocodile Smile VI. Be rest assured cyber criminals have no hiding place,” they said.
