More than 240 delegates from public service, media, audio-video enterprises, diplomatic missions from China and 42 African countries, the African Union Commission and the African Union of Broadcasting attended the forum.
President Xi Jinping of China and President Macky Sall of Senegal encouraged continual mutual collaboration between Africa and Chinese media, and deepening the China-Africa comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership.
Ifeoma Adaora Anyanwutaku, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, called for the review of the Memorandum of Understanding with China on Media Exchanges to reflect the current realities.
She said:
“This has become imperative in order to develop further and strengthen the capacities of both government and private media professionals in Nigeria, to continue to promote better and friendlier relations amongst our people.
“Nigeria and China have done so well in implementing the Memorandum in the area of Culture. We ask for closer collaboration in the areas of Media and Audio-visual exchanges, in order to address the emerging issues in the information/media ecosystems.”
