The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Maj.-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim has appealed to employers all over the country to accept corps members posted to them.
He stated this at the closing ceremony of the 2022 Batch ‘A’ stream one orientation course at Damare orientation camp, Girei.
The DG, who was represented by the Adamawa Coordinator of the NYSC, Malam Ibrahim Tukur, said employers should make the welfare of corps members a priority as well as create enabling environment for them to easily utilize their potential.
Ibrahim equally charged corps members to remain dutiful, hardworking, and resilient as a patriot, in the course of their orientation exercise, and also further asserted that white-collar jobs are far fetched in the country so corps members should endeavor to learn entrepreneurial skills and use them to develop host communities which will, in turn, reduce the rate of poverty, youth restiveness and the tendencies for criminality.
He stressed: “As you set to report to your places of primary assignment, I wish to stress the need for you to be diligent in the performance of your duties. I also urge you to integrate into your host communities, through learning their language and culture.”
